While the outside of the Capital building was dressed up for Valentine’s Day, much more serious things were happening inside.

With 6 weeks of testimony under our belts, the committees are ready to start considering their top priority bills in earnest and their impacts on the state’s budget. Some of the biggest bills, notably those from the Governor’s office, are still in drafting. Once a draft is formed, the committees will have opportunity to apply our learnings and constituent desires to the review and modification of those initial drafts. A summary by the Vermont Chamber of Commerce of some proposals being considered in the Governor’s Education bill is provided HERE. Remember, we are still in the very early phases of this reform. Nothing is cast in concrete. I am very interested to hear your concerns and inputs to this process. Thank you to those who have already contacted me.
Bills are still being introduced to the House at a rapid rate. As of Friday 226 bills had been introduced and more are still coming. You can see the entire list HERE. You can see those that I’ve sponsored listed on my legislative page HERE. And those that are assigned to the House Environment Committee on which I sit are listed HERE. A bill we plan to start working in the Environment Committee regards a broad banning of PFAS chemicals in products sold in Vermont. This bill has not yet been drafted or introduced.
I look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming events. Please contact me through my website if you have any questions.
I remain honored to be your Representative,
Rob North
